What I don't understand Tom is that Richard has a brain and yet he
stoops to this kind of behaviour which is usually the path of people
incapable of individual thought. The latter I sympathise with and do
not feel the need to respond to and ofcourse there is always the evil
person lurking around that is filled with hate.For my part I was
astonished as to how this group regarded the idea of a diiferent
antenna aproach which has now been accepted by better qualified people
that you find on this group. I have spoken to people who have known
Richard and all say the same thing he is discruntled with life and ..
well I wont go into that.But even as amateurs we are all interested in
antennas and when yet when one comes along it is rejected without one
iota of intelligent educational discussion or thought of delving into
just a cacaphony of insults from those who have mistaken anticipation
that all is known, at least with this group. Not everybody has the
opportunity of getting an education and many are not capable of
absorbing it thinking that they know everything that is important.
Ofcourse when you read about it you can always take the stance that Roy
takes i.e. I don't understand which can change later when it becomes
more fully understood. Amateur radio is a hobby for all types of people
mostly old guys angry at the thought of change or dying but that is not
a reason that thinking people can't get together and discuss a niche in
the hobby in the search of knoweledge knowing that knoweledge alone
does not lead to miraicles. Sometimes this group reminds me of a
statement I heard years ago.

When he stops these snide attacks on me then things

and I am determined not to be trashed into oblivion like CHIP
in the face of attacks from him , Roy and others.

Calm down, Art. Reg Edwards (PBUH) managed to stay in good humor
when he was the recipient of Richard's little bons mots, and you can
do at least as well as Reg in this regard. Chip managed to hold his own
without sinking to the level of a thirteen year old, and you can do that
too. (Although a few of Chip's alter egos were pretty far gone on the
puerile side.) You should emulate Cecil. He has the
hide of a Texas rhinoceros and never loses an argument (he never wins
one, either). As for your feelings about San Francisco, it's not like
you think it is, and even if it were, at your age no one's going to
ask you to play drop-the-soap no matter how eager you might be to
join the fun.
