I've had this radio for years and LOVE IT! I use it every day. Great
little rig!

Thanks for everyone's info and it's good to know my B65 is up to spec!
As you all said, great receiver and I'm very impressed with it. Compared
to my Sony ICF7600D it's a much better radio, both reception wise and in
mechanical design. I guess both receivers are of similar age but I've
had no end of problems with faulty electrolytic capacitors in the Sony.
Internally the Panasonic is also much easier to work on.

I did find that separating the RF board from the display board removed
most of the birdies, so it could be that this problem could be improved,
maybe something to look at later on but I'm currently just enjoying
having a decent, working portable.

My one big gripe with the B65 (and the ICF7600D) was the FM selectivity.
I've replaced the FM IF filters in mine (which were 280 Khz) with
socketed 110 Khz filters. These have greatly improved the selectivity
and sensitivity is the same (possibly even slightly improved). To my
mine this is a worthwhile modification.

Are there any other portable sets that are comparable to the B65? I've
also got an ICF2001 but I'd not rate this as highly as the Panasonic.
Perhaps some of the more modern sets?

Steve.
