If I press the off switch it stops it also (naturally !). And when I
power back on the problem is
gone, until I go to a new antenna position with the preset function. I
tried your suggestion and it worked. So it is now just a bit annoying
in that I have to wait till the antenna gets to the preset position
automatically, and then reach up and hit the switch. Ok, I will live

think of it as an alarm that lets you know the antenna is in position and
ready to use!

i haven't been in to that part of their control circuit, and since they
don't label stuff very well on the schematic i would only be guessing... but
the first thing i would check is that you have good connections on the
indicator pins of the cabling. and check for leakage from the indicator pot
to ground that could indicate water in a connector or cable. either of
those may upset the balance of the nulling circuit they use.
