Default just what sort of anttnena modeling software is out and (de)merits of them

Here we go again........
Simple question, understandable, flame, more flames.

Hey, Merry Christmas to you guys.

The answer to the original question is, there are a few (at least 3 I know
of).
EZNEC is a favorite of many on this newsgroup and can be tried out for free.
4NEC2 is another. There is a list of some at this link:

If you do a google search of "NEC4 antenna model" or similar you will get
more than you can handle.

Myself, I have used 4NEC2 and getting somewhat familiar with it. Once I
researched the concept of "cards" it suddenly made sense to me.
I believe these NEC2 programs use the same "engine" meaning when your front
end program generates the data, it is fed to the same calculating software,
regardless of the program. So the main difference in the programs is how
convenient they make it for you to enter your data, the display of the
results, and of course the support you get to go along with it. In that
category I have heard nothing but praise for W7EL, Roy, who participates on
this newsgroup and has been involved with modeling software for a very long
time.

There is also an email reflector on the subject. I don't have the info
handy right now but I am sure you can find it (as well as anything else in
the universe) with a google search. Read the archives there and you will
find tons of info and supportive help. This newsgroup is a little tough,
because the subjects range all over the place, and there are so many guys
who have their rifles loaded and just looking for someone to make a false
move.

Tell you what I'm going to do. I will post another article following this
one and give you some idea of what I expereinced with my first attempt at
modeling. This may give you some ideas of what to expect.
