Default Will it harm the 7600 reel antenna to leave it outside? Anyone else do this?

Hi. After a painstaking process of hanging my reel antenna outside,
clipped to the rim of the roof, and putting the screen to the window

to try shortwave reception. I want to simply leave it hooked up
outside, in the wind, rain and snow. Is this acceptable? What is the
consensus about my decision? Is it a bad idea?

(See previous post about this.) If I wanted to use the reel antenna
outside, I'd just throw the "reel" away and use the wire and clip. I
mean, do you really need that big plastic reel? How hard is it to wind
the wire without it?

The other suggestion here- speaker wire -- is a good one. If the wire
is going to stay outdoors, get something more rugged than the reel
wire.
