Default Is it true the Eton E1 uses the whip for an AM Antenna?

Hi I remember reading in the radiointel review that the E1 does not
have a built- in ferrite AM antenna. However, I've read in this group
that the E1 uses the whip antenna for AM reception, much like a car
radio. Is this true? How is the MW reception on the E1 without an
optional external antenna?

I'd recommend using it with an external antenna. If you buy the E1 from
Universal Radio, they give you a free Grundig G-4000 portable that you
can probably sell for about $100. they also have the antenna adapters
for hooking up whatever external antenna you want. I even think I heard
a claim that Eton might provide you with an antenna adapter, maybe
free.

I use a Radio shack loop (discontinued) that is the same as the terk AM
advantage antenna that sells for about $50. this gets me some reception
some nights on MW/AM from Europe, Africa & the Middle East.

Yes, they made a mistake with the antenna connector. But it's still
considered the best portable ever made. George S., MN
