There has been utter silence in news.groups and in

It's titled rec.radio.amateur.moderated and I have been asked to be
one of the moderators. Please be patient.

In all honesty? I don't forsee your moderated group going far. What
"moderated" means to many of us is that the group is censored. Censoring a
group, and allowing or not allowing comments at the whim or mood of an
administrator is hardly appealing.
Paul may find it appealing, as you apparently do, too.
Good luck on your proposed little fifedom. Who, besides you and Paul, will
wear the gold-encrusted crown bearing the lofty title of Moderator Supreme?
Which of you will use the golden sword of self-appointism to slash unwelcome
comments?
And where does censorship, once begun, stop? Since there is to be no
oversight, you and The Royal Court will have no checks and balances.

My prediction is that your moderated group will initially attract a few
like-minded Hams, but will ultimately suffer from disinterest and boredom
and fade into oblivion within a year at most.
