Just looks like a brute force clipper to me with no filtering. FUZZY

the
right word, this is very simlar to the circuit used in guitar some

Actually, it does have some RC filtering... but evidently that's not
sufficient.

That why it is best to operate a clipper at RF level say 455khz then clip
and filter. That way all the harmonic energy generated will be outside the
bandpass of the filter. Then convert back to audio. These can be really
easy
and cheap to make. There used to be a guy down in BAxley Ga that sold
these
units dor about $50 a piece. He had about $15 in parts and about an hr in
time in each one. Something to do fill in the idle time.

That, set in line after Brian's CVA (sans the noise gate), would make
a pretty decent processor. I hinted at such a setup before but his
learning curve is flat.

Dont need nothing that fancy, Develope an AGC voltage using a rectified
sample of the output of the clipper and usee it to bias a FET mike amp. If
you used one of those 3 legged ceramic IF filters I bet you could build the
whole thing less pots on a 24 pin DIP IC header
