Default J&R weekend sale

I got the Sangean HDT-1 _TUNER_ (not radio) for $200.

It's the biggest tuner I've ever seen.* Entertaining to play with,
provision for (necessary) external AM and FM antennas, in case you
already have an external AM antenna. I just run another splitter
into it off my active antenna array.

A pretty good AM radio as to sensitivity and selectivity, though it
lacks the controls you'd really want. The defaults aren't always
very good for the situation. It's pretty good listening to a weak
station next to a strong (but not extremely strong) local.

Goes into mysterious modes on power surges ; clock loses 30 seconds a
day, apparently not using the line frequency as a guide, which is really
stupid. The power companies get AC to average exactly the right number
of cycles over a day precisely to keep clocks on time.

If $200 won't bother you, it's fun to use. If it will, it's not.

Display does not turn off.

(*and I've seen tuners made in the 40s)
