I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this question, I'm getting
ready to put to coax on my mobile system. I have 950 feet of Belden
9907 coax. It's 50 Ohm, low loss ethernet coax. Can It handle 75
watts from my Icom IC V-8000? Or should I opt for standard Mini 8U
coax? Thanks for the feedback.


If you are only running a dozen or so feet in a mobile installation, or
short run in base station, it will suffice. It is, in actuallity, a type
of RG-58, and it has an approximate loss at 150MHz of about 5dB per 100
feet.

If, however, you are planning on long runs approaching 100 feet or more,
you definately need to go to a lower loss cable, an RG-8 FOAM type, at
least, if you want any appreciable amount of your 75 watts to reach the
other end.
