Does anyone know where I can get a few elements for my discone antenna ?

I bought it from Tandy(a.k.a.Radio Shack) electronics in the late 80's
but don't know the manufacturers name.

Tandy was bought by Dick Smith electronics so I can't go back and ask.

The elements are stainless steel hollow tubes;
4.80mm OD x 81cm(approx) long.

I have never seen the thin walled stainless tubing you refer to in metals
outlets in Australia. You could try model shops... but I doubt it.

Why couldn't you just get some 3/16" stainless steel rod? It is probably a
brass hub, so you could probably use 3/16" brass rod equally well.

Owen

The stainless rod might be the way to go. Same as my other discone.
Have tried a couple of hobby shops but they only have aluminium and brass,
and don't have the right size.
Definitely isn't aluminium.

Only other place I can think of is Hills Industries who make TV antennae and
other products. The factory is located on South Rd, Edwardstown ??

I would've liked to get an original replacement if possible, but don't like
my chances.

Boozo.

Anything roughly the same diameter and length will do.

A piece of brazing rod threaded on the end would work just fine and is
cheap.

Off course the die to make the threads will probably be the most expensive
part if you don't have that stuff on hand, but that can probably be
solved by asking around your neighborhood and friends with a six-pack
in hand.
