Default antenna suggestions ?

I have a friend who is visiting southern Spain shortly, has a 5 Watt all
band portable set
and at the moment, just a "Miracle whip" for an antenna...

We are trying to make the contact between there and the southern UK and so
trying to give ourselves
the best chance of making it. The UK station is 100 watts and W3DZZ trapped
dipole, or a low horizontal
loop at about 15 feet approx 240 feet long, or a 40 foot vertical with
several buried ground wires and earth rods
at base, the last two being matched with an SGC 230.

He is a very dry/arid area, although on reclaimed salt marshes, so guess
ground conductivity might still be good
in a dry stone / brick built house with a roof balcony
approx 10 metres above ground. He can only lash up a temporary solution for
the time he operates, so
perhaps a long wire/counterpoise, a dipole of some sort or an inverted V,
pre-made at home before he goes

Can anyone recommend what aerial will likely give us best chance of making
the contact, on which band
and at what time of day ? The distance is approx 1150 miles between us.

Thanks,

Nick

Halfwave dipole / inverted V (about 32 foot end-to-end) for 20m ?
Contact during daytime.
Ian.
