I forget when it was,but one time in America,it was put to a vote

HOWEVER - Just may be we could all be saying . . .
Ich verspreche Untertanentreue zur Markierungsfahne
der Staaten von Amerika und zur Republik,
für die sie steht: eine Nation unter dem Gott,
unteilbar, mit Freiheit und Gerechtigkeit für alle.
-note- a "Sieg Heil" would be optional.
Then again some public schools may now
be saying the 'pledge' :
Prometo lealtad a la Bandera de los Estados Unidos
de América, y a la República para la cual está parada:
un Nación debajo del Dios, Indivisible, con Libertad y
Justicia para Todos.
-note- an "Arriba" would be optional.
As for Me - I Say :
"I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God,
Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All."
-note- And I Always Say "Amen" at the end.
FWIW -IMHO- The Pledge of Allegiance is not about
"The Flag" : The Pledge of Allegiance is about Each
and Every American Citizen AFFIRMING Their Personal
COMMITMENT to America and It's Goals and Ideals;
and Giving Thanks to God for America and Being an
American. Can I Get An Amen To That ! ? ! ~ RHF

The Bellamy Salute is the Hand-Arm Gesturehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellamy_salute
That was described by Francis Bellamy to accompany
his Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States.
During the period when it was used with the Pledge of
Allegiance, it was sometimes known as the "Flag Salute."
It was first demonstrated on October 12, 1892 according
to Bellamy's published instructions for the "National
School Celebration of Columbus Day":

IMHO - Every School Day should also include the
"American's Creed" to Build "The Spirit of American"
into the Very Being of Each and Every American Child.
THE AMERICAN'S CREED
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American%27s_Creed
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government
of the People, by the People, for the People; whose Just
Powers are Derived from the Consent of the Governed;
A Democracy in a Republic, a Sovereign Nation of many
Sovereign States; a Perfect Union, One and Inseparable;
Established upon those Principles of Freedom, Equality,
Justice, and Humanity for which American Patriots
Sacrificed their Lives and Fortunes.
I therefore Believe it is My Duty to My Country :
* To Love IT;
* To Support its Constitution;
* To Obey Its Laws;
* To Respect Its Flag; -and-
* To Defend It Against All Enemies. {Foreign and Domestic}
God {Allah} Bless America and All Americans
