Fact #3 A true quotation
" In beloved Iraq, blood is flowing between brothers, in the shadow of
an illegitimate foreign occupation, and abhorrent sectarianism
threatens a civil war."
.....King Abdulla, Saudi Arabia
source: Craig Whitlock, Washington Post, March 29, 2007.
One of your allies is looking a little shaky there. "illegitimate
foreign occupation." "He who is not with us is against us"...Bush.
Maybe it's time to smash things and kill people. Wait a minute!
Canada isn't with you on this either. Hmmm, Not a good idea.
Besides, the US needs the oil....from both countries.
So,,,why are Canadians there then?
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" """""""""'
There are no Canadian forces in Iraq. The US invaded Iraq in defiance
of a United Nations mandate and Canada is not a rogue nation.
Canadian forces are in Afghanistan. The Afghan war is a U.N. -
sanctioned invasion.
Even the Pope has declared the Iraq invasion "an unjust war" Catholic
soldiers who participate in an unjust war are commiting a mortal sin.
I bet you don't hear that in the US - controlled media.
There may be some Canadians in Iraq but they would be NGO's like
Doctors Without Borders, and Amnesty International, that sort of
thing. The traditional role of Canadian forces is that of peacekeeping
and rebuilding, not killing.
The main effort of the Canadians is that of stabilization and
rebuilding: schools, water supplies, hosptals. However, the Taliban
keep shooting at them and they have to return fire and chase them
down. The government has just ordered 1.5 billion dollars worth of
Leopard tanks, so I think they will be there for a while.- Hide quoted text -

Officially, you are correct. However... unofficially........
sometimes other things happen behind the picture that we are presented
with......
In the past few years, there have been times when perhaps between
thirty to forty Canadian troops have been in Iraq, assigned to British
and U.S. forces as part of a military exchange program.
And yes, they apparently have been involved in combat in Iraq
when accompanying these units. Thirty to forty troops at a time is a
very small number, however, it does set a precedent. But that is not
generally known, and is not official as far as I know. The issue has
been raised in Parliament and argued about quite strongly by the
opposition on more then one occasion.
As far as Afghanistan goes, yes, Canadian troops actively go after
the Taliban and Al Queda insrugents that keep using hit and run
tactics, and blowing up I.E.D.s and using suicide bombers. There have
been quite a number of battles, paricularily around Kandahar, to the
east and west of the city, and a number of other areas. They also do
the stabilization thing with schools, water supplies, hosptals, and
handing out food, bottles water and radios to the people. And they are
also training Afghan milita and police.
