I have for sale a Hallicrafters SX-28A which I purchased years ago,
but never got around to restoring it. This unit has a case and bottom
cover. Overall physical condition of this radio is good to very good.
All of the knobs look original; the bandswitch knob needs some
cleaning. The line cord is brittle and should be replaced. I powered
this receiver up through a variac, and it received some stations on
the AM broadcast band, and some on the 5.8 to 11 MHz and the 11 to 21
MHz bands. This radio has been in storage for over 10 years, so it
probably needs to have its controls/switches cleaned, alignment, etc.
One thing not original with this radio is two tube sockets that are
mounted inside this unit (see photos). I believe the original owner
made this mod for some regulators tubes, but the radio seems to work
OK without the tubes. I do have the manual for this radio and it is
included.
This radio is heavy and I will not ship it. Buyer will need to
either pick it up or I can meet somewhere within a reasonable driving
distance of Allentown, PA or Hazleton, PA. This will give the
prospective buyer a good chance to carefully check this radio before
purchasing.
Pictures of it can be seen at:
