type of modulation the international broadcaster use.

Higher the frequency, lower the wavelength: shortwave... nuffink to do
with "type of modulation".

"shortwave" group.

Dat's the name: rec.radio.SHORTWAVE.

But then, to be fair, a huge proportion of the pap that gets posted
to the group doesn't have any connection to radio, so mebbe we should
sing praises of whatever.

I sort of get the idea that 640 is "mediumwave".

Never did find out what happened. The KFI news department just emailed
me back with thanks for the heads up.
