At times when propagation is good you just might find some
interesting harmonics of SWBC stations above 30 MHZ.


And I also recall hearing the California Highway Patrol up in that
region as well when the 'skip' is in. I've hooked up my scanner to
the 200' W-E wire and had excellent reception. I'm not certain if
they use the low band anymore or not, but it was always interesting
listening.


Oh yeah, they still use those frequencies. There is a number of
frequencies used in the 40 - 60MHz range every day. You can still see
the long whips on the patrol cars.
