I've heard complaints that this doesn't have a good AM antenna built in.

I would be truly amazed if a Eton sold a radio with AM coverage and no
AM antennna - wouldn't Â*you? Â*It's got a built in antenna for AM.

What's the real story with that?

The real story is that it uses the whip antenna rather than a wound
ferrite for AM reception.

Are people saying that the AM reception is
poor with the whip?

I haven't heard any people say that. Â*Have you?

The whip antenna is not a good antenna for AM. It picks up a lot of noise,
is not very directional and not very sensitive. Signals easily picked up
with other radios are buried in the noise on the E1.

A Sony 7600g is much better on AM.
