Maybe the statement is a bit harsh, but the Pro III was in development
for at least a year before its release and that was in early 2005 I
believe. Time marches on with DSP technology and components and without
the ability to upgrade via downloads, the Pro III is frozen in late 2004
technology wise. The Omni VII was released in late February 2007 and the
factory has handed out several firmware upgrades, many which were
features requested by owners. Its like getting a new radio every time
they do this! Back on topic for the original poster, the sensitivity
below 1500khz on the Omni VII is very good with no mods and it works
great for VLF. I assume the Pro III has LF filtering to keep AM
broadcast from generating intermods on higher bands, which the Omni VII
does not suffer from.

The Pro III was outdated shortly after it was introduced

How might this revelation be illustrated?

We may be drifting away from the topic now, but are there independent
sensitivity figures for the Omni VII MW band (AM mode)?
