I don't normally respond to wise-guy, know-it-all "trolls"
here on the newsgroups, but I'll have to make an exception
this time.
Why do you find it necessary to gripe at people who would
rather buy nice gear than junk? Why do you assume that we
all expect to get it for nothing? Why do you assume that
we all want obscene prices for things we're selling? One
of you hinted that my criteria are unrealistic. Do we now
assume that no one takes good enough care of their gear to
be able to meet criteria like mine?
I know what nice AL-80B's are going for, and I'm willing to
pay it. So far, I've gotten three responses. All of them
offered amps that meet criteria 1,2,3,4 and 6 on my list.
All of them were offered at or near market value. I fully
expect more similar offers to come in before I make a final
decision on which one to buy.
Didn't your parents teach you that if you don't have anything
nice to say, you should just keep your mouth shut? Didn't
they teach you to keep your nose out of others' business?

Looking to buy an Ameritron AL-80B HF amplifier.
Here are my criteria:
(1) Must come from a non-smoking environment.
(2) Must be in perfect working condition.
(3) Must have no significant cosmetic damage.
(4) Would be nice to have 10m/12m enabled.
(5) Would be nice to have the QSK option.
(6) Seller must be willing and able to properly
pack the amplifier for shipment.
Thanks and 73,

Not the same thing, but I just bought a like-new AL-811 for $350. Not a
scratch, not a dent, and works perfectly.
However, I DID know the guy that bought it new, and it is almost mint. I
didn't try to argue, but I thought it was very nice and I plan to keep it.
Don't think I got hurt at all.
'Course, lots of guys would want it for $200 and expect all the things you
asked. LOL!
I don't see how it's too much to ask to buy good equipment, 'cuz it is/can
be done everyday.
