Obviously this needs explaining in words of few syllables.
The "problem" is that someone posted about HD Radio in an
Australian radio newsgroup. As I understand it, only the US and
Brazil have been stupid enough to adopt the HD Radio
technology, so the rest of us simply don't care. It's the
people cross-posting who are the uneducated "idiots". Just keep
away from groups that are not part of your silly technology is
all we ask and then we won't have to respond in yours.
Simple really.
You obviously haven't been paying attention to events there,
have you? Here's a link for you:
http://www.abc.net.au/radio/digital/#Australia
I suggest you scroll down where it says:
On 14 October 2005, the Minister for Communications, Information
Technology and the Arts announced a framework for the
introduction of digital radio in Australia.
The services are to be initially established in the six state
capital cities (Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and
Sydney) by 1 January 2009.
All national (ABC/SBS), commercial and wide-area community
broadcasters in those cities will be able to broadcast their
existing analogue services in digital or broadcast new services
if they wish.
Further consideration is also being given to the adoption of
more spectrum-efficient technology for digital radio to enable
broadcasters to provide even better sound quality and new
services. This may mean, however, that the current generation of
digital radio receivers may not be compatible with the standard
that is finally adopted in Australia.
Oh dear .. ignorance reigns supreme in the land of the flea ...
Australia has selected DAB+. It starts in capital cities in 2009.
There is also some consideration of DRM for regional areas, yet to
be fully considered. Nobody has even mentioned iBiquity's HD Radio
which is a system only adopted by the people who put Dubya in the
white house and Arnie in the mansion .. says it all really (and,
sorry, Brazil, where the nuts come from).
So which is it top posting ignoramus? First you post digital mode
broadcasting has not set foot in Australia and now you seem to know
all about it. You take the cake idiot.
Telamon is your real name Kellie Pickler?
Go back and actually read the posts properly and maybe you'll
understand, on the other hand probably not.
My comments were directed at arrogant, ignorant people who think that
the US = the world and that HD Radio = digital radio. HD Radio does
not and probably will not ever exist in Australia, so nobody here has
any interest in it. On the other hand, Australia has been considering
and testing DAB (and now DAB+) for some time along with other
possible systems like DRM. We have also read with increasing degrees
of amusement the pickle you guys in the US have got yourselves into
with HD Radio which is as good a reason as any not to go down the
same stupid path.
Now go back to your own little US newsgroups and discuss your silly
little digital radio system among yourselves and let the rest of the
world implement something better.
Are you Alfred E. Neuman? Your posts have a real "what? me worry?"
quality to them.
You think DRM is any better than HD? Think again Alfred.
I'm very flattered to be compared to one of my heroes ... !
How about considering a new handle like "Easy does it FM"?
and no, I have no reason - yet - to believe that DRM is any "better" (or
worse) than HD, it's just an option being considered for some areas in Oz to
supplement DAB+ in the capital cities, whereas HD is not and therefore
irrelevant to anywhere else but the US (and mustn't keep forgetting Brazil).
And yet your post indicates that very thing. Why do you suppose that is?
Could it be what you wrote strongly inferred it? Don't be stuck on HD
verses DRM as one is no better than the other.
