Can the BBC be received over-the-air in So Cal? If so, on what freq
and at what time?
Here's what I get in Seattle, hope that helps.
9740 kHz, 5 AM - 10 AM Pacific Standard Time (East Asian Schedule)
5975 kHz 4 AM ?, 5 AM -7 AM PST (East Asian Schedule)
6195 kHz " (East Asian Schedule)
15400 kHz mid day up to 3 PM (West Central Africa Schedule) not coming
very well these days. Also try 12095.
15335 kHz 4 PM to Sunset (East Asian Schedule)
15360 kHz 4 PM to Sunset (East Asian Schedule)
You can get the regional transmission schedules on their web page.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice and go down to the middle of the
page, next to the box where you enter in your city, and take the
"Shortwave" link. The most useful, I find, are the East Asian,
South East Asian, West Central African, and the North Africa/Europe
schedules. The Caribbean schedule is so sparse that It's not much
use.
The best, right now, seem to be 5975 and 9740 in the morning. The
solar flux/sunspots seem to be creeping back up, and reception seems
better then I expect at this time of year. (The winter solstice
always seems to make if difficult to get some stuff on a regular
basis).
