The other day I was searching for active HF frequencies (29-54 MHz for
my scanner) when all of a sudden, somewhere in the middle of 37 MHz, I
picked up what sounded like a TV show! (Similar to the Global station
I pick up on 407.287 Mhz) I then changed the channel, and the sound
changed. I soon found out that my scanner was picking up the same
thing that my TV was! My usual freq. scanning place is about 3 metres
from the TV, which is hooked up to a VCR which is hooked up to a
StarChoice satellite receiver, all via coaxial cable. See if you guys
get the same thing. Changing the subject, what is HF used for? I know
26-27 MHz is used for CB, but thats it. Thanks for any replies!

Many TV's, especially older one;s, put the IF somewhere around 40Mhz,
and it is about 6Mhz wide. So odds are your scanner was picking up
energy radiated from the IF strip of the TV set.
