John,
Traps make no sense as they just waste power.
It is so much more efficient to base antenna lengths in multiples
of a wavelength especially when using top band.

Everything which is placed in a transmission line/antenna circuit has to
"burn" some amount of power ...
You sound like me, when I had the "back 40+ acres." *City dwellers
(indeed, myself in my present situation) need one antenna to do it all
... (actually, I got 3 separate stealth antennas doing the job--but you
get the idea ... )
I know, you recommend the "magnetic loops/etc.", however, it is all
about choice.
Warm regards,

I understand where you are coming from, but again it is about a contra
winding
portion of the trap which one knows does melt.A better way to do the
same job
would be to have a 20M half wave dipole with a square loop at the
center
with a variable capacitor. When you are at 10 M you then get double
the radiation
instead of loosing it to the traps. The variable capacitor gives you
dexterity
with respect tocontinual resonant frequencies.
Try it you will like it.
