IMHO - Such A Deal ! ~ RHF

Dear "RHF,"

For $19.99 complete http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=3691598
, that IS a great deal. J&R is a reputable company with which I have

dealt many times in the past. I myself own one of these radios. Back
when the Grundig Satellit 800 was first announced and many people,
including myself, placed orders with Universal Radio, the "wait"
became much longer than anticipated (over six months, in fact!) and,
to keep its customers happy, Universal sent them this one for free as
a reward for being patient.

It's not a "bad" radio, but its SW sensitivity and selectivity leave
something to be desired (to put it charitably) and I no longer use it.
Its restricted SW frequency ranges are undesirable as well.

But for listening to local MW and FM stations, it is quite
satisfactory and, at this price, with the "bonus" of some shortwave
"bands" being thrown in, it is worth buying, certainly a better buy
than a $10.00 AM/FM only portable. Its construction quality is
adequate and, of course, it comes with Eton/Grundig's warranty and
support, and that is no small thing.

It does have quite good sound quality, especially considering its
size, and, at $19.99, is certainly "okay" as a spare, travel, or
"throw-away" radio. It even makes a nice gift.

Best,

Joe
