Sorry mate I don't know anything about the EBAY seller as I haven't
needed to have any dealing with them. However The Canadian store I've
had dealings with as it was them whom I purchase the Sony XR-5100 tape
deck AM/FM/SW radio from back in 2005, and they were very helpful.

The only reason why it was somewhat financially viable for me was that I
was going to Hawaii on Holiday and it the only cost a few dollars to
ship it to the Hawaiian Hotel and the CAD$ was on par with the AUS$.

Back in 2005 I was in a similar position in that I had the options of
getting the radio from Asia or Canada/US. However I was totally
surprised to see these radios selling at my local auto store and why I
quickly snapped up two, I've just checked the original boxes they came
in and I actually purchased the (GT260 and GT360) not the GT160 as I
originally thought

Your engine interference may be coming in through the antenna, which is not
shielded from the engine. I'm planning to use my regular radio antenna and
replace it with a longer one if needed. In my part of the world there's a
lot of Spanish on the radio (everybody aims for Cuba, and I'm close enough),
and in general I think there's more on shortwave here than in the Pacific
Rim region.

This is very useful information. There's a Singapore dealer who advertises
these on eBay -- do you know anything about him? The alternative is
"Shortwave Store" in Canada, with a much higher price. We Americans
apparently aren't supposed to have shortwave radios in our cars, according
to Sony
