Is the seller getting money for it? Yes.

When the hammer is dropped does the auctioneer often times say 'Sold!"? Yes.

Therefore a sale has been made.

I rest my case.

The 'Item' is being "Sold" at Auction.

The 'Item' is being "Placed" at Auction.

Each is understood to mean the 'Item is : "For Sale"
