Default Help on Sunair GSB 900 DX Transceiver

Help. How does one get the Sunair GSB 900 DX transceiver into the transmit
mode? My instruction say attach a 50 ohm resistive load (I used a dummy load),
set mode switch to "A", turn and peak XMIT knob (microphone adjustment) while
speaking. Some kind of indication is suppose to be seen in the meter. I see
none. Microphone trips TX/RX relay okay. I understand that this radio is a
broadband set (Like the Central Electronics 100V and 200V), but doesn't it need
a filament warmup and a plate on step? Radio has a "KW Control Unit" inserted
on the front. It has push switches for "Filament On" and "Plate On." Are
these controls only for the 910 or 925 (automatic) antenna tuners via the
auxillary plug? Or do they need to be executed manually (in this case without
the tuners)? Like filament on for 15 mins, then switch to plate? I'm using
this radio for the ham bands only and would appreciate any help I can get to
solve this mystery. The only other possibility is: I'm doing what I'm suppose
to do, but the radio has no output. Help.
