Your ignorance is showing, Jim. It takes absolutely no work to
transform impedances because those impedances are virtual and
meet the IEEE Dictionary definition (B) for "impedance" which
requires zero work.
It might be better to say the reflected energy is performing
a "function" which requires no work (possibly a lot like being
a physics professor). :-)
