Default A little off topic, Buying from a government auction

I know thiss is a swap forum, but this seems to be the best place to seek
info for me.

I was successful bidder in October on a IFR FM/AM-1100S. First had to wait
for approval of my End User Certificate, which was in mid December. I made
the transaction, paid the "UPS Store" to pick it up and ship it to me. It
didn't work, naturally. Spent about 15 hours making it work. So far so good.

I get an e-mail today. The Government has changed its core to require
"demilitarization", meaning they want me to ship it back, it is to be
destroyed. AN IFR! ??? Its part of the fine print. And I guess if I bought a
surplus h-bomb I can understand it, but this is such benign equipment. It
can be bought on Ebay almost constanty one is available.

Does anyone have any experience with somehting like this? And if so, is it
possible to talk some sense into their head? As my first purchase like this
I certainly will never bid on anything again with them. There's always
scopes being sold, etc. And if an IFR can be called back, anything can, so
be warned there as well.

Thanks for listening.
