Thanks much Jonesy! My brother-in-law was a electronic service man
till he retired about 5 years ago. His explanation mirrored yours!
I still dont understand the intra stucture of such a chip but he
made it clear that such devices do exist.

Yep. It's a shame flash memory could not have been built into the
Azden PCS-4000.... HI!HI!
Jonesy
Yep it sure is a shame
Also my ICOM751 oughta have something like that too for the 32
memory channels instead of a backup battery. Years back I started
loosing stuff like the 10 meter band, then the 15 meter band dissappeared,
then 20 meters and finally all I had left was 40 meter band. I had heard
of a guy in Italy that made a replacement board for the IC751, and once
installed you would never loose any operting system bands.
I ordered the board from him and sure enuff it was as hugeas the original
and I figured I'll never get this thing plugged in right so I sent
the Rig up to an ICOM repair center I thing was in Oregon ot Washn STate.
I asked them to fix the rig and at same time install that ram board I
bought. They did it and now I will never loose the operating system
again although the Italian I bought the Ramboard from said your safe
now as far as the operating system is concerned, but the one backup
battery when it goes down you will loose the 32 memory chmls only.
YOu sill still be able to tune up on any freqcy you like however.
So thats where I am now. What a relief.
