Default Servicing Planetary Drives

I am restoring a Hy-Gain ( newer version of the Galaxy GT-550) GT-550A and
the reduction drive has recently developed backlash. In these rigs, 2 drives
are used. The one on the face of the front panel is a Jackson drive. Galaxy
used a 2nd Jackson drive inside. Hy-Gain has used what appears to be a
little more sophisticated drive that has 4 spring loaded adjustment screws
that would appear to allow changing the pressure on the ball bearings.
Unfortunately, it will mean a lot of disassembly to get to it.
I have lubricated the drives and bearings with a medium weight oil, but
perhaps this was not the right thing to do? The backlash showed up before
lubrication.

Does anyone have any thoughts on these drives. The exterior drive is not
slipping BTW.

Tnx,
Dale W4OP
