In spite of all the blather from BBC management, all they have
accomplished,IMHO, is a royal s......g of a heritage communications
giant, BUILT ON RADIO, get that, built on radio. You'd think decades
of building confidence in accurate news and cutting edge commentary
somehow would convince those dolts that being lost in a sea of MW, FM,
satellite etc. will NOT encourage listening, au contraire, it will
lead to the gradual irrelevance of the BBC. Just another blip on the
mass communications screen. BBC is unique and worth saving as a
International Radio broadcaster. Nothing else will work. Don't believe
me ?? Stick around until BBC World Service fades into the sunset, and
is no longer respected worldwide. As I said in a previous post...it's
Turkey time....Again.
You're confusing content with the transport mechanism. The BBC World
Service is better on satellite.
OK, so why are you still here on RRS?
Because there is a subset to SWLer/Dxer types; those who actually HEAR
the CONTENT of all these international newscasts we've been LISTENING to
and care a lot about the "software", as well as the hardware. I got my
R8B in 1999. I enjoyed it more for GHFS and USCG than any stupid
broadcasting station. I can still listen to airliners over the Pacific,
so the hardware's OK. But I can do that on my AR8200MK3B out of the
little pouch on my backpack, why do I need all this other ****?
