Default HD RADIO DEAD SAYS NEW STUDY

Hear it is a study from Arbitron.. HD radio is dead. Download the free
study...
The HD Radio portion of the just-released Arbitron/Edison study based on
1857 calls contains blunt news: "HD does not appear to be attracting
substantial numbers of consumers...those involved should find new ways to
present the concept, to trigger more response." As for XM and Sirius, the
headline slide of the presentation is this: "Awareness and intent to
subscribe have leveled off", with the "absence of big programming
announcements, stories about consolidation [the merger] and the passage of
time" all playing a role. There was some reassuring news for AM/FM operators
- "digital radio users, who use podcasts, XM/Sirius or listen to online
radio, do not spend less time with AM/FM radio." But radio "has to
reinvigorate its image as a destination to discover new music", says Tom
Webster of Edison Media Research. Much more to digest in 63 pages of
key-findings slides either at Arbitron.com
