Icom R-75 Sensitivity

I purchased one of these sets and my E10 Eton seems just about as sensitive
as this high priced set. The only difference I can make out is the digital
sound processor make things much clearer and easier to understand.
The sensitivity is not that good at least in comparison on these two sets.
I wanted a new in-box set but the store only had this one, so they said, and
they rest were on back order.
I've e-mailed them offering to return it and purchase a new "In-box unit" as
well as maybe the E1 plus extended warranties on all. RadioWorld Canada is
the Vendor and we will see what they come up with.
I'll let you know the results.
I don't know how well the E10 performs. The E1 is exceptionally
sensitive though (-113 to -115dBm AM, 30% mod, 7 kHz bw) and the R75
is lagging a few dB behind, although in most situations the difference
won't be noticeable. If I remember correctly the R75 is around
-111-112 dBm with its 3dB attenuation pad removed (preamp 1 on). You
did not mention which antenna(s) you used. You would need identical
antennas (or use the same antenna) if you want to compare the radios,
but you probably knew that
BM.
