I think my most memorable was getting Cambridge Bay aeradio to QSL my
1989 catch on 8901 kHz. Firstly it was extemely difficult DX, right on

QTH. Have never heard them again from that day to this.

I wrote them two detailed letters, none of which elicited a response,
so I wrote a third very detailed one. 1989 was the height of the
apartheid era and we were the polecats of the world, so I suspected
that had something to do with the non replies. So in my third long
letter I wrote that I was an Englisman and treated like crap by the
ruling Afrikaners as far as business, schooling and government was
concerned. I also included details of my life and my background, and
finally after a year I received a very nice long detailed letter in
reply and confirming my reception. It seemed that by supplying more
biographical detail on myself and my country had swung the deal.

So Ace, I'm sure you have some very interesting stories - how about
sharing some of them with us?
