Does anyone have a good source for repairing an original equipment
Motorola RIB box? I keep getting error #7 with it despite the
computer I am using. I am using older 486 PC's running dos only and
this has worked on them before. Any help would be appreciated.

I have found using an older 486 SX works fine or even better is a 386.
Depends on the software you're using. I've used a pentium on occasion w/
Saber software and sometimes it works, sometimes not. You can also try
creating a new personality for the radio and reprogram from scratch.
Hope this helps.

Early Motorola rib software (read this HT600 and earlier) apparently

didnt use handshakeingin their software - ht-1000 and later can use high

speed computers, but for those earlier versions, the slower the better

when it comes to programming. When working on these, was amazed to find

that they were useing an old, dual Floppy Drive computer (286)! to

program their radios (op system on one disk, rib software on other.

Wondered WHY, until tried it on 486-- wouldn't go. It also holds

for mobiles MCX1000, and earlier. As info, Jim NN7K
