-*If I were sitting out in my yard in the general vicinity of
- my Alpha Delta DX sloper and had for sake of discussion
- my DX398 could I drop my little coil (coupler) over my
- whip antenna and clip say a 10 ft. lead directly to any
- part of the sloper? Would I receive the full benefit of the
- sloper this way?

- Just thought about that the other day.
- Curious minds want to know.

BCB LzSn,
Full Benefit not likely : some benefit without a doubt.
Alpha Delta DX-SWL Sloper Antenna is 'optimized'
at the feed-point at 50 Ohms to be connected via
a Coax Cable feed-in-line to a Radio/Receiver with
a LO-Z {50 Ohm} External Antenna Input.

Connecting the Alpha Delta DX-SWL Sloper Antenna
in this manner would result in gaining the Full Benefit
from the Antenna to the Radio.

Tapping a 10 Foot Wire on to any point of the Alpha Delta
DX-SWL Sloper Antenna's 60 Foot Wire Antenna Element
'modifies' the original Wire Antenna Element and your new
'connections' feed-point impedence is unknown.
The Coil around the Whip Antenna of the RadioShack DX-398
/ Sangean ATS-909 Radio will provide some inductive coupling.

Alternative Hook-Up :
The better approach might be to take a 12~15 Feet piece
of Insulated Hook-Up Wire and Wrap several 1" Turns around
One Foot of the Alpha Delta DX-SWL Sloper Antenna's Wire
Antenna Element. Take the other End of the Wire and Clip
it to the collapsed Whip Antenna of the DX-398 Radio.
Resulting in a longer Whip {Wire} Antenna that is Inductively
Coupled to the Larger External Antenna.
NOTE - This would basically leave the Alpha Delta DX-SWL
Sloper Antenna un-modified for use with the Radio/Receiver
it is presently connected to.
hope this helps - iane ~ RHF
