Some Far East Logs for Burr
The jamming music is chosen to be annoying Chinese opera so you don't
want to listen to the station they are covering up. If it was China that
you heard with the nice music it was probably a domestic.

Telamon,
Initially, I shared the same thinking. But on August 8th, I caught the
dreamier-sounding music in parallel during the local morning jamming
VOA and BBC Mandarin broadcasts in the time period bween 1200 and 1400
UTC. Long music without interrupting voice. Clearly jammers (not the
domestics that I also listen for), but the music wasn't the regular
percussive flute and drum. I was wondering if they were trying out
some new jammer music to commemorate the Olympics.
And, after listening to it for a while, the percussive flute and drum
isn't really that annoying. As I originally opined, I think it's far
more interesting-sounding than Cuban or Soviet jamming ever was.
And thanks for not going off on a rant about Chinese politics, like
that dude from Canada did!
