Ham Radio 'existed' before the so-called "Sound Card".
For that matter Radio was 'history' way before the "Sound Card".

- The point of amateur radio is to not "just listen",
- but to transmit as well. There are several "digital"
- modes that use a PC sound card, and these are
- a hoot. You can "listen" to PSK31 very easily:

The word "listen" doesn't appear in the name of the group. The hobby is
about technical skills. Any mouth-breather can buy fancy radios and
string up a wire and hear a 100,000 (and up) Watts radio station from
the other side of the world; it takes a lot of skill and a lot of luck
to see someone typing on a keyboard in New Zealand working the Pacific
Northwest on 5 Watts.

See them? Is that that 'remote viewing' that I hear about on C2C?
