Bill,
Your assessment of the RF-2200 is correct. I have owned three RF-2200
receivers, and a RF-2800 and RF-2600. The RF-2200 is the quietest of them
all, while being as sensitive or more so. The lack of noisy digital circuits
is the key. The RF-2200 was the first of Panasonic's "Command" series, and
in many people's opinion was the best.
This radio is a lot of fun in an RF-quiet environment; the RF-2200 is my
favorite radio to take camping. My 2nd choice for tuning around the bands
next to a campfire is the Eton E1.

Fair price. Analog radio with a digital counter.
Dave,
I think maybe you have it confused with the RF-2800
(http://www.dxing.com/rx/rf2800.htm). From what I read, this was about
the same quality as the RF-2200 but had noise due to the digital
electronics that reduced its sensitivity compared to the RF-2200.
But you're right about a fair price...should pop to over $200 by the end
of the auction.
My two cents...
