Default Popping audio when tuning G4000A

On each up/down button press, an annoying
popping/clicking sound is hear. When the up/down tune button is held
down, the frequency increments as expected and popping also happens on
each step. This becomes unbearable after a few minutes of tuning. When
using the speaker, the popping is not so obvious.

Are there any G4000A (YB400PE) owners that have experienced this?

I'm quite disappointed and am tempted to return to seller. I would much
rather repaired it unless it is an inherent design flaw.

I am surprised that there have been no replies to your post. Yes, this
is inherent in the design; perhaps you would also benefit from joining
the Yahoo YB400 mailing list (groups.yahoo.com).

I have used the RF section from the YB400 in a homebrew receiver project
(microcontroller of my design together with modifications to the RF board);
only through a redesign of the digital section can this chuffing/thumping
problem be eliminated and in my design I can tune at high speeds (tens of
increments per second ranging from 1Hz to 100kHz, selectable) with no
switching artifacts (noises).

Michael
