Steve-

I suspect you have a cable with an open or resistive shield connection.
If so, it would be a cable that is common to both your antenna and the
dummy load.

Do you have one of the dummy loads that screws directly onto the SO-239
connector on the rig? Radio Shack used to sell one that was good for 10
or 15 Watts, but would withstand 100 Watts for a few seconds. If the
problem with the motion detector is present with such a
directly-connected dummy load, then look inside the rig. If not, then
look outside.
