looking for any type of replacement. I can't even tell if they are Pnp
or NPN. They are single stud mount, with 4 solder tabs. The curcuit
is broadband, and the B+ is 12-14 volts.
Thanks for any help.

You need to find out whether these are pnp or npns.
I have used 2N6083's to replace npn hf outputs before. They worked fine.
I think they are only capable of 30 watts output. They work fine with 12
volts. They only cost about 4 bucks a pieces at

I will look up the spec sheets on the 2N5883. I have thought about just building a small 10 watt RF PA, using modern components and putting it in the set, leaving the orginal pa in it, and maybe some day getting replacement parts. So far, from the really bad copy of a schematic, and with the finals and driver shorted, cannot tell if they are npn or pnp.
Thanks for the information
