Big Wall AM Loop =http://danhughes.net/loop.JPG

I'm thinking about doing this one just to see if it would be as good
as the loops I already have. Unfortunately I don't have a tuning cap
lying around. Couldn't I put this loop up on the wall and the plug
into the ext.antenn.jack of my rat shack loop? I bet it would work the
same, maybe a tad different with the few turns of wire that are inside
the housing of the plastic loop. Hmmm, curious.

Just make yourself a concentric cap. A couple of short lengths of
aluminum tubing or copper pipe, a few inches long and some heavy mylar,
or heavy/firm plastic sheet.

Make a cut, with a hacksaw down the length of side and remove a wide
enough chunk of pipe so that you can compress it into the uncut tubing,
with the plastic, to form the cap.

You should be able to find plans on the net to build one, as I am rather
poor with graphics programs (it is more work for me than actually
building the cap!)

But, no need to actually purchase an expensive variable. And, of
course, placing this inside a metal can reduces body capacitance.
