Salty,

Shoo troll, find another bridge - we're celebrating the slow, but
sure, death of MW IBOC!

What is dying is AM itself. The major format is moving to FM, and
listening
levels are declining faster than ever.

I haven't noticed that happening around here.

AM listening in the Ventura market is now down to 5.4% of listening, off
20%
in the last two years alone. There is nothing there to even think about
moving to FM, as none of them are successful.

So what's going to happen? Are they going to start disappearing then?

They will become more niche, paid religion, paid niche ethnic,
buy-an-hour-and-be-on-the-radio, etc. Eventually, many will be shut off,
particularly ones with valuable land or expensive to maintain
directionals... like 1520.
