Dear All,

Just got a JRC72 ex-marine HF set and it only has "SSB" (USB) as a mode
plus DSB and CW. Are there any work arounds for getting it to resolve
at least partially a LSB signal so it can be used on the lower ham
bands?

place the loudspeaker on the reverse surface of a mirror. Shake a little
Carborundum Powder over the surface while illuminating with torch light
at 45 degrees to the plain of the mirror. The feed from an photocell at
90 degrees to the light beam will deliver a signal which when fed through
sufficient audio amplification will replicate a fully detected LSB
signal.

Alternatively adjust the BFO trimmer.

the powder went everywhere and the torch battery died after 2 minutes and
my protractor scale was worn so I couldn't read the angle. I opted for
the BFO and that seemed to work ok

LOL - well done. The application of a bit of electrickery saves a fortune in
talc and battery power.

We'll make an SWL out of you in no time !
