An operating loss would be Sony's first in 14 years and could increase
pressure on management for bolder restructuring than a plan unveiled
last month that called for curbing investment, exiting businesses and
cutting 16,000 jobs.
Do you think Sony will continue its losing relationship with ibiquity?
- Me thinks not. *Me thinks Sony is out of the HD radio business.
D'Oh ! 'little myopia minded' JimWilhelm,
How is this just bad news for IBOC & HD-Radio
-ps- It Ain't
-however- It Is Very Bad News for Radio and
Sony making any future Shortwave Radios.

- Actually, If HD generates ratings and revenues
- it takes care of everything else.
CCK,
"HD" by itself is not going to sell anything.
"Content" {Programming} Sells Radio : FM Radio
Sells Better Than AM/MW Radio.
"HD" allows an additional Audio Stream on FM
HD-Radio; the so-called HD2 Channels.
=IF= an FM HD-Radio Station has an HD2 Channel
with "Content" {Programming} Sells : Then that Radio
Station will have a 2nd Revenue and Income Stream
and 'potentially' a Bigger Local Market Share.
FM HD-Radio allows for More Channels and Greater
Product {Content} Diversity for the Existing Stations
and 'potentially' Increased Revenue and Income at a
Cost much less than building new separate Radio
Stations to accomplish the same amount of growth.
