But some European and Oceania shortwave broadcasters are putting a lot
of effort into DRM. I have no idea why they would do this.

There would be no market for this in the 3rd world. Maybe Japan/
Australia/New Zealand is their target area for buying this radio.

Used to be that SW broadcasts were the way to get a country's message out to
the rest of the world. It seems that isn't the point anymore, they don't
care if they serve anyone but their own country or expats. Nobody cares
about the third world anymo they don't have money for expensive digital
radios, and they don't have internet..
