First, what would be the point of having 95% of the people on welfare?
What would that "goal" accomplish?

The economy is a mess and it is ripe for politician to express
government is the answer to all our troubles. With his expansion of
government and new entitlements, he will increase the dependent class.
It's given, government entitlements are hard for politicians to let
go.

Finally, even if this were so, how could the 5% that are working support
the 95% that aren't?

We are on a progressive road of having the ratio of tax receivers
coming close to taxpayers. By the time the baby boom generation
retires, there will be less people paying into the system. We also
have the second highest corporate tax amongst industrialized nations.

The top 1 percent of income earners, by household, paid 39 percent of
all federal income taxes in 2005, whereas the bottom 50 percent paid a
little over 3 percent. Further, 32 percent of all tax returns filed in
2005 were from people who paid no federal income tax at all.

During Fiscal Year (FY) 2006, the IRS collected more than $2.2
trillion in tax net of refunds, about 44 percent of which was
attributable to the individual income tax. This is partially due to
the nature of the individual income tax category; containing taxes
collected from working class, small business, self employed, and
capital gains. Of the Individual Income Tax, the top 5% of income
earners pay 60% of this amount.

It stands to reason that 60% represents less people than those who pay
little or no tax at all.

Obama did not break his promise to review bills that
reach his desk line by line to eliminate earmarks. He now
says when he said it, it was a Teleprompter malfunction.
